Kitchen Update Part 2

So I added some frames and trays from 7 Gypsies. I need to add some pictures and decorate the trays. The clear scalloped piece will have a picture and some patterned paper behind the acrylic. Then we can use it as a dry erase surface. Ahhhh......much better than a blank wall. Still needs work, but, hey, it's better!!!

Oh, by the way, the dorky stuff in the trays is from our Swiss girl. (We have a foreign exchange student living with us this school year.) She couldn't stand them being empty. :)

The Kitchen Update Part 1

Here is a look at the "Before" picture. I have planned to do something with this for over a year. Today is the day!

I bought the "Kitchen" wood sign from Hobby Lobby for $5. I used the laser level to line up "is the" with the bottom of the wooden sign. (Yeah, I know, the other "The" is crooked....I fixed it!)

Next, I was ready to hang "Heart of the". I cut these pieces out on my Cricut out of black vinyl. Then, use contact paper to pick the pieces up from the Cricut mat.

Now, that looks better! Imagine the calendar hanging back there. The calendar is getting an update, too! But I am waiting for the spray paint to dry!

A Trip to the Mountains!

We had a great time hiking in the Rockies a few weeks ago. Here are a few pictures....The first one is Noah climbing the rock wall (only after Chloe went first!! LOL!), the second is Chloe showing big brother how to climb the wall, the third is Chloe, Noah, and Ed, and the last picture is me and Ed on a mountain peak.

A Scrappy Day

Well, so far we have 9 inches of snow....so that means NO SCHOOL! WOO! HOO! (Unfortunately, we must make up the days in May. :( ) So my sister and I are doing a long distance scrap. The challenge was to copy the pencillines.com sketch #221 , complete in 1 hour, and post to our blogs. Well, mine took longer than an hour due to Cricut not cutting deep enough, Glimmer Mist bottles clogging, Xyron sticker maker ran out and destroyed a snowflake, and so on....

CS is Bazzill, pp is My Minds Eye, punches by Martha Stewart, Snowflakes from Christmas Cricut cart, and swirly from QK. Anyway, here is my interpretation of the sketch:

So I called Jan after I finished the first challenge. We decided to do it again. My challenge was to use something from my Clip it Up 3 times and use alcohol inks. I grabbed some bling from my Clip it Up and colored it with alcohol inks. (Note: Do not use your embossing gun to speed up the drying process. Bling will melt!) I actually had stuff arranged differently but it wasn't "anchored" to the page....just looked like some flowers floating around the page. So I moved the flowers with the bling to the bottom of the vine and added the chipboard and the butterfly.....better.
Her challenge was to use ribbon and a cuttlebug embossing folder. See her page here.

Week 11 & Challenge from Jan

So I called my sister, Jan, and told her that we should do some long distance scrappin'. Then it became a challenge. I challenged her to use one of her long Quikutz dies and her Cricut (which has been neglected in her scrappin') and she challenged me to use a stamp set I haven't used in a long time and to make my own flowers. We had one hour to complete the challenge and post to our blogs. Not exactly scrappin' together.....but, hey, we had fun. Here's my page. Go to Jan's page for her layout.

Week 9 & 10

Week 10- Chloe and I bonding, Chloe doing schoolwork and Noah finally won student of the week. So we went to McDonald's after church for his free happy meal. Then on Monday, Chloe and I cuddled and watched TV. Tuesday I worked on my cross stitched stocking that I started 7 years ago...almost done!! On Weds., it warmed a little and the kids rode scooters. On Thursday, Kayla and I went to the school board meeting to hear about the proposed budget cuts.

On a scrappin' note: All paper is from the paper studio. I cut the swirly thingies with SCAL on my Cricut that I downloaded from http://littlepiecesofmeblog.blogspot.com/ ....great site for downloading SCAL files.

Week 9-Last part of Feb./First part of March.
I spent the weekend at Jan's house....scrappin' of course. When I got home on Feb. 28, Ed put in the new faucet I bought while shopping with Jan. Ronnie got home March 1, and brought 13 dozen eggs! Eggs, anyone?? March 2, Noah celebrated Dr. Suess' B-day. March 3, I made a wedding shower gift for a co-worker's bridal shower the next day and March 4 we played volleyball. Everyone was in bed when I suddenly remembered that I had not taken a POTD....so I took a picture of my volleyball gear.

We were having severe weather so I had to stop in the middle of it and go hang out in the basement for a while. (When you've lived through a tornado or three, you start to take the warnings a little more seriously!) I used my Sure Cuts A Lot program and cut it out on my cricut.

Getting ready to go to Cedar Point. We bought a 6 pack of pepsi so we could save $8 on each admission ticket. We chugged some Pepsi on the way to the park!
The last page in my Niagara Falls vacation album. (NO, my album is not finished...I just skipped ahead to the last page ;) ) We stopped for lunch at a truck stop and found the onlly shade under the sign. Brandon, being himself, made a huge mess out of one of those packets that you add to bottled water. His hands were all stained red.
I needed a place for our maps from the amusement parks and I wanted to cover the ugly upc code...so double purpose pocket. I used the leftover paper from the last page. Cool, huh?
Here we all were getting ready to ride the Top Thrill Dragster at Cedar Point. It was so fun!

March 10- Spring is coming! The kids are able to ride their scooters outside and enjoy the slightly warmer temps.
March 9- I am determined to finish cross stitching this Christmas stocking by next Christmas. I need to finish outlining and add a name to the top. I'm thinking about just putting Mom at the top then I can pass it on to one of the kids. After all it's taken over 7 years to cross stitch this!

March 8- Hanging out at home tonight. Chloe and I curled up under Daddy's fleece blanket for some TV watchin'.March 7- Today we went to McDonald's after church. On Friday, Noah was MVP of the week and got a free happy meal. I was excited he finally got it!
March 6- Chloe sometimes wants to do "homework" so I get out something for her to do. I have a kit where she listens to a tape and then follows the directions. She enjoys it....hope she enjoys kindergarten next year as much :)

First Week in March..

March 5- Nothing exciting today. Just a picture of me with my girl on my lap giving me some love.March 4- Wedding shower after school today and played volleyball this evening.
March 3- Thursday is a wedding shower for a coworker. I bought a metal sign, painted it antique white, and used my cricut to cut black vinyl letters to spell their last name, established, and 2010 on the 3 metal pieces. Then I dabbed black paint around the outside edges. It turned out pretty cute! Too bad I don't have an after picture!
March 2-Today at school Noah celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday. He made this visor at school. Here he is playing wii and wearing his visor.
March 1- Ronnie went to see his kids this weekend. His son is raising chickens and selling the eggs. Ronnie brought back 14 dozen eggs. I already had 3 dozen. Guess we'll be eating eggs a lot!

Feb. 28- Hehe! Plumber belly! Here is Ed putting in a new faucet in the kitchen. Our faucet has been a pain in the side for over a year. I finally decided that it was worth the $150 to not have to use both hands to force it to swivel! Ugh. New faucet makes me happy!

Feb. 27- Still at Jan's...Chloe making some lunch. She wanted to help make the egg salad sandwiches.
Feb. 26- I was scrapping with my sis when I talked her into making some washer necklaces with me. We wanted some pictures of us holding up the washer necklaces. I had my 7 year old take our picture. After we looked at the pictures he took, we realized from his angle that our chins were double chins. So we had him retake the picture but we kept trying to make our chins not double chins. This was the funniest picture. Aren't we retarded!?!

I hate brass! There, I said it! I hate it! I hate the color of my lamps in the living room! My solution: Spray paint. Ed spray painted them brown. I was afraid to paint the lamps so I had him spray a picture frame first. After he finished the frame, I was in love!!! I was still nervous about the lamps, but I hated the color anyway...so why not! My lamps go so much better in my living room now. Much better! (Do not point out that the end tables have gold/brass/whatever....I will not like you if you do!)

The Last Week of February

Feb. 25- PJ Day at school b/c we had breakfast for lunch. Noah ate his first school lunch today!
Feb. 24- This is how I found Noah reading his book.....multi-tasker!
Feb. 23- Noah's new obsession is taking photos. I got tired of him using my VERY expensive camera. Then I thought, Duh, let him use my old digital. I'm not using it anyway. So he spent the day running around taking pictures.....of everything!!
Feb. 22- Chloe spent the day at a friend's house (while Noah and I were at school). She was invited to a Tea Party Birthday Party. She had so much fun!

Feb. 21- Mmmmmm!!!! I love no-baker cookies. They never last at our house. We eat them with spoons while they are still warm.

Feb. 20- We had to get the house clean for a church party....when I asked Noah to clean his train tracks in the living room. He hid. But I caught him! LOL! Ok, really, he was just hiding from me trying to get a picture. (Didn't the first story sound better? I hate it when people hide from a camera...especially my little people.)
Feb. 19- Tonight was the Father Daughter Dance at school. Chloe isn't in school but we invited some younger siblings of friends who were going....she dressed up in her princess dress.
Feb. 18- This is how I spent an hour today while the house was peaceful...playing Wii MarioKart. I know, it's an obsession. That stinker Noah has unlocked more than me! So I had to catch up to him....nope, we aren't competitive at all :). I had to set the timer for this picture..HA!
Feb. 17- Noah reading a bedtime story to us. Though I'm not sure some of this non-fiction stuff makes good bedtime story material...
Feb. 16- Evidence of how much a brother loves a sister....he had a mailbox for his valentine's and I didn't have time to decorate her's...so Noah did it for her. Isn't he sweet?
Feb.15- I'm a firm believer in having the kids help around the house. Most of the time the like to help me anyway. I know this will change when they are teens. So I'm enjoying my cheerful workers while I can ;)

Feb. 14- Ronnie made this chocolate chip cookie in my heart pan....Yummy! Didn't need it, but it sure tasted good.

Feb. 13- After a trip to the local resale shop...I found a magnetic/bulletin board board that was perfect for the job chart I want to make. But the frame was scratched so it needed some sanding. I sanded a bit and then the dear hubby couldn't take it...he had to take control of the sand paper. LOL!

Feb 12- Today was the Little Man's V-Day party at school. What fun! (black splotch on picture is last name blotted out for
Feb. 11- Back to school today....Do you like my necklace and earring holder? I love it...no more tangled necklaces. Ed drilled the holes for me and I finally got it hung on the wall. I started this project in December!!
Feb. 10- Another snow day! I was a sewing machine today! LOL! I sewed a ton of projects. I was making by bed and looked down at our bed skirt that has been ripped for MONTHS! So I decided today was the day to fix it. So I wrestled our king size mattress off of the bed and sewed my bed skirt. I figured while I was at it...I sewed a taggie (inspired by http://scrapsnstrings.blogspot.com), sewed a scarf for Chloe (have had this material for 3 years), and sewed some handles for Ed's exercise straps. Go me!

Feb 9- Another snow day! Yay! So we enjoyed a day at home. My bro calls me in the evening and asks if his boys can spend the evening while he goes to a visitation. Sure....he calls me a few hours later. Wants to know if they can stay longer so he can go to a Texas Hold 'em Tournament. He'll give me $10 or 10%...hmmm....I say, "10%" and he says,"but if I lose you get nothing." I responded, "Then I'll be right back to where I am now...I'll take the chance." He said, "Leave the boys on the sofa and I'll come in and get them." So they fell asleep just like this on the sofa. Cute! BTW, the next morning I had $25 on the kitchen counter ;)

Christmas 08-one of the pages I did over the weekend.

Feb. 8- Snow Day! No school! Isaac and Alex here today...so of course they all wanted to go play in the snow. Tim didn't send any snow clothes with his kids. Alex didn't even wear socks! So I scrounged around for some snow suits. I found a 6x that fit Isaac and I had 3 3T ones...no go for Alex. Anyway, they had fun in the snow.

Project 365 Feb. 1-8

Thought you might want to see something a little crafty after all the P365 pics...This is one of the pictures I completed this weekend. These pictures were taken Christmas Eve.
Feb. 7- I got home and the kids were so happy to see me. It's good to be missed.
Feb. 6- Scrapped all day. Well, until about 6 pm when I got a terrible headache. So I went to bed at 7:30 pm and slept until 7:30 am. I finished 22 pages this weekend. Not too bad...
Feb. 5- The plan was to leave at 10:00 to go scrappin'....well, the secretary at school calls me at 10:00 and said the birthday boy is throwing up in the nurse's office. What!?! I just so happened to be at the end of the driveway. So I went and got him. I sat at home for a few minutes trying to figure out what to do. I called Mom (I was supposed to be taking Chloe there) and she said she'd take the sick boy. (Isn't she the best? Thanks Mom!) So I drove the treacherous roads to meet my friend, Cheri. She drove the hour trip (well, it took a little longer in the snow). We arrived at the cabin and we had to move some furniture so all 6 of us had places to scrap...I had to move this big guy....yeah, I know, you were wondering how a caribou fit in the day's events, weren't you? The rest of the day was spent scrappin'!
Feb. 4- I took a personal day and stayed home with Chloe. I had a lot of stuff to do before I heading out for my scrapping weekend. Chloe insisted that I play a few games of Jenga and Skip-Bo. So I sorted pictures while playing...now that's multi-tasking!
Feb. 3- We celebrated Noah's birthday with a few friends at Chuck E. Cheese's. Fun!
Feb. 2- After much research, I decided that Wii EA Sports Active was a good workout "game" for me and Ed to do together. Ed stopped at the store and bought it today. As soon as he got home, we put on our exercise clothes and got with it. It was HARD. I thought my legs were going to collapse a couple of times. I was sore the next day.
Feb. 1- Chloe wanted to have a tea party. Little did she know that Grams (my grandma) had made me a set YEARS ago. So I got the box down. Noah came into The Happy Place just as she was getting the dishes out of the box. He was the waiter. LOL!

Jan. 31- The tooth fairy left him $6! Or tooth fairies....there are 3 in this house!
Jan. 30- Noah's Bday party with the family....he's almost 7!! After the party, Tim pulled his loose tooth...but Noah swallowed it. So Chloe wrote a note for him to put under his pillow (yep, the 5year old wrote a note for the 7 y.o.!! With help, of course.)
Jan. 29- We had a coin drive at school to raise money for people in Haiti. Each of the "non-classroom" teachers had a can. The teacher chose a silly stunt that they would do if their can had the most money. My silly stunt was to walk on my hands. Obviously, I won. My can had $124.xx and 2nd place had about $40. Guess they really wanted to see this. I walked across the stage. When I asked if that was $124 worth they said no, so I did it again. (Glad I practiced a few days before this.)
Jan. 28- PJ Day at school. Chloe took our picture. (Wow, I look like I just woke...)
Jan. 27- Every morning I go upstairs and wake up Chloe. I carry her downstairs (she doesn't wake up quickly like Noah) and she sometimes manages to sneak her blanket with her. Here she is, all cuddled up with her blanket eating breakfast.
Jan. 26-This is how I spend every afternoon from 4:00 to 4:45....exercising and watching Property Virgins.
Jan. 25- YUM! The boys wanted a peach dessert...We call it peach pudding.
Jan. 24- It has been so muddy and nasty that our driveway has been AWFUL! Ed's car bottom's out when he goes down the driveway. So he went out and shoveled the middle so it wouldn't do that anymore

Jan. 22-Noah took this picture of me making his lunch....just like every morning. He's getting to be quite the photographer. You know, it's kind of interesting seeing things from his angle.
Jan. 21.-Please NO MORE FOG! (Only lasted 9 days! Is this London???)
Jan. 20- Took pic of kids and a friend....won't post because it is a picture of a friend's kid...better safe than sorry.
Jan. 19- Gotta love a guy that does dishes! Nuff said!
Jan. 18- Here is Chloe all snuggled up with the fleece blanket Grandma B. got her for Christmas. It's supposed to be one to keep in the family room like Ed and I have...but she loves it so much that she sleeps with it too. As if the green blankie she's had since birth isn't enough....
Jan. 17- This is how I find Noah EVERY MORNING! I get up at 6:45 M-F and he has already eaten breakfast and is playing Wii. So I made a new rule, he has to be dressed as well. On Sat. and Sun. he plays quietly until I get out of bed. He even gets Chloe's breakfast ready (if Ronnie hasn't already). Now that's awesome!

Jan. 15- My new haircut...not much shorter but it needed to be cut...was looking raggedy.
Jan 14- Chloe pouring milk for supper. Isaac and Alex were here (thus 4 cups) while Tim hung the last doors in the basement.

Bonus Jan. 13 pic....How does a 6 year old boy read? Just like that!
Jan. 13- We went to Aldi to stock up on groceries. Then on the way home we stopped and ate Chinese buffet...YUMMY! The kids helped me put away groceries.

Jan. 12- Here we are playing Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games for the Wii. I must have been shocked...look at the look on my face. We had fun! As I'd get closer to the finish line, I'd get closer to the TV. Then nobody else could see. I didn't see a problem with that. LOL!
Jan. 11.....picture of Noah's haircut. But I won't post because he was in the tub. Nothing shows but...just to be on the safe side, I'm not posting it here.

How I Store My Cricut Carts

This is a ribbon box I got from Joann. The blue separator tray was in a different box I got at Target. The Target one had 2 trays the size of the top tray.
The bottom tray holds my overlays and some of the books. I used the Cricut cart Tags, Bags and Boxes to make the green tabs.

Jan. 9- When we got the Wii Fit for Christmas, I was overweight UGH! Today, I am normal! (well, normal is such a relative word!) So I am gradually working off those extra Christmas pounds.
Jan. 10- I don't know why but my kids have a new fascination with my iPod shuffle. Chloe went to lay down "to rest" and fell asleep listening to my iPod. How cute! (I just noticed how the shuffle is showing perfectly in the picture...I did not stage that!)

Jan. 5- WHAT!?! That's not my initials!!! NOAH! You are so busted....so we had a conversation about forgery and being honest. Sheesh... the kid's only in 1st grade and he's already signing my initials! (At least he didn't miss any;)! )
Jan.6 -Chloe is playing Rhythm Parade on Wii Fit Plus. You know, it's funny, I debated for days about buying the Wii Fit....just didn't think we'd use it. Well, it's the only thing I do (min. of 40 mins. per day) and the kids LOVE it! It is the most played thing....what was the debate!?! LOL!
Jan. 7-We are some crazy house cleaners today. Noah insisted that he needed to take a picture (or 20) so he took this picture of me filling the dispenser on the dishwasher. We scrubbed the entire kitchen. Chloe scrubbed the cabinets. I scrubbed the walls...we scrubbed everything.
Jan 8- This boy needs a haircut! This is the longest his hair has ever been! Seriously! But he doesn't want to cut it. He loves putting gel in it.

Jan. 4- Noah and Chloe are playing a Thomas board game. They enjoyed the last day of vacation before Noah went back to school. I had to go to work that day. They stayed home with Ed. He took the day off work and stayed home with them.

So last year a lot of scrappers participated in Project 365. The object is to take a picture every day and make a 2 page LO of each week. At the end of the year, you will have a year done. So I am trying it this year.
January 1st- Barely Jan. 1! Kissing my honey!

Jan. 2- Winter cleaning! You can look at it like this: I am either getting a jump on 2010 Spring Cleaning or I am WAY behind on 2009 Spring Cleaning....LOL. Chloe and Noah helped all day. Chloe spent about 50 mins. scrubbing the upstairs bathroom. It was really shiny when she was finished. (Nope, you can't borrow her!) Jan. 3- I spent a relaxing day at home. As part of a relaxing day, that means some time in the Happy Place (aka Scrap room). The kids usually hang out with me there. Here they are looking at their scrapbooks. At least they enjoy all of my hard work documenting our lives.

I finished this page on Tuesday. This is a picture of Noah when he was the ring bearer in a friend's wedding this summer. I have a TON of pictures...don't know if I'll scrap them all! Ed and I celebrated our 8th anniversary on June 9, 2009. We went to Applebee's (had a gift card) and watched Night at the Museum II (had a gift card). This is my newest project....
I got tired of not knowing which album was which. So, I modified an idea I saw in a magazine (Creating Keepsakes????). I punched a scalloped circle in black, a plain circle in white, stamped the date in black ink and tied them to a binder clip I clipped to the spine. Now I know which is which...well, I will when I finish all 21 albums :)

Yep, Noah has it now. Both Noah and Chloe have 101.4 fevers....ugh. I'm hoping that they don't share it with me. ***Keeping fingers crossed!***
I put my 7th and final load of laundry in the washing machine! And, yes, it is all put away (well, except Ed's clothes, he puts his own away!)

On a more creative note, I stayed up until 1:30 am organizing my craft room. I took some Crystal Light containers, covered them with patterned paper and added letters cut from my Cricut. Now the kids can keep their craft supplies organized. :)

This is a page I created for the Chirper Challenge DT (but I didn't get this emailed in time to meet the deadline...). We were to have an interactive page. The next picture shows how the tag slides out from behind the picture. The picture is how I found Noah and Chloe one Saturday morning. This is a picture of us at the petting zoo.

This is the first page I did while at Jan's....not very good. I wasn't in my groove yet. I almost didn't post these two pages...but why not, every page isn't a masterpiece.

Chloe came and "helped me" with this page. The white thingy before the Love....she insisted that is go there. So I put it there :)

I got flocked!

Ed woke me up at 5:30 Thursday morning...to drag me out side to find we'd been flocked. There were about 60 plastic flamingos, the sign and a paper that said (paraphrasing here) for $5 the youth group would come pick them up, for $10 we could pick who'd be the next to get flocked, or for $15 we could pick who'd be next and it would be insurance that the flock would not return to our yard. (Great fundraiser for church, huh!?!) So I laughed, went back to bed, and around noon, Noah and Chloe and I loaded them in a tub. I drove over to Don's house and Chloe and I "flocked" Don's yard..hehe....while NOah sat in the car going on about we shouldn't be doing this and this was wrong and so on....hehehe!! Watch out...you might be next!

Here are a few pages I did while at Jan's house for a few days. These pics were taken August of 2007 when we went to Niagara Falls.

I journaled on the calendar piece after I took the picture and decided I was too lazy to take another picture :)

I added a bit of journaling under the top picture.

I added journaling on the top gray piece.

Chloe helped me with the rub ons on the title. Then she wanted to know what it said. So I told her to sound it out and she did! She read the title :)

The beautiful and bottom swirly are glittery...wish they showed up better :(

We came, We saw...We took pictures. Gwen and I say that all the time. So I thought it would be an appropriate title.

We found this Princess bike yesterday at a yard sale for $5. Just what she needed to learn how to ride....no training wheels!! We started in the yard and 30 mins. later she was riding on the concrete at Uncle Tim's like a pro. She can start, stop and ride as far as she wants...all in one night! Atta girl!

Happy Mother's Day! We went to church this morning. After church, we went to eat pizza with my mom and dad. Then we went to Michael's (I bought nothing!) and Target. We got home at 4:00 and napped until 6:00. Then I exercised, watched Without a Trace (I love this DVR thing!), and ate supper. Here I am reading to the kids before bedtime....my only Mother's Day pics. Guess they'll have to do! I look terrible! Then after putting the kids to bed, I made a scrapbook page. Will post it later this week...maybe!

New Stampin' Up! Demo

Yep! I signed up to be a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator. I love, love, love SU! products. I have been having so much fun playing with my new things. Here are a few things I made:

This was a sympathy card I created. I used the Very Versatile stamp set (available only until June 30 in the Occasions mini catalog) and Chocolate Chip ribbon, Choc. Chip ink, Kiwi Kiss ink, and Baja Breeze ink.

This card uses the Pocket Silhouettes for the weeds (as my husband says!) and Very Versatile for the sentiment. I used So Saffron ink for the sun, Baja Breeze and Pacific Point inks for the sky and Kiwi Kiss for the Weeds!

My challenge was to use the Basic Grey Phoebe line (that's the patterned paper for you non-scrap lingo people), my Graphically speaking Cricut cartridge and my Paisley Cuttlebug embossing folder (it's on the photo corner in the bottom picture.) Noah spent the evening playing at Isaac's with several school friends. When I picked him up, Alex said Chloe could borrow his costume. (Alex LOVES dressing in Halloween costumes...)When we got home, Noah put it on and ran around the house "biting" things with the gator head. Then we sat down to play some Dr. Mario on the old Nintendo. Chloe and I were playing and Noah fell asleep next to me! Of course, I had to take pictures!!

Here is a page I created a few weekends ago at our school crop fundraiser. Journaling says, "My motto is 'I'm raising adults,' so I try my best to teach them skills to help them be successful adults. On Saturday mornings, they bring their laundry baskets in the hall, dump them out, check pockets, and throw them in the washer. I have just recently made them help fold their clothes. After the clothes are folded, then they put them away. I hope this helps them to be responsible adults and in the meantime, we enjoy each other."

Scrap Pages From Saturday

So I went to a friend's house on Saturday to scrapbook. There were 8 of us scrapping, chatting and having a good ol' time. I only finished 5 pages (the 6th one needs some finishing touches) but I had fun anyway.

You might recognize these pictures from earlier in my blog :) I finally got them developed and scrapped them! The flowers and stem are covered in glitter. This goes next to the page above. I didn't have another chipboard "l" so I cut one out on the cricut....it matches the "love" at the bottom of the page. I learned something on this page....In between the pictures you might notice a white flourish...well...I stamped that on a clear acrylic heart and stamped it and dumped embossing powder on it. Then I proceeded to heat it with the embossing gun....welll....plastic melts! Duh! So it kind of crinkled. OH, well, just adds a little dimension! HA!This page was number five so the page next to it isn't finished yet :) The 3 snowflakes are covered in glitter! (Love that stuff....in spite of the mess!) These pictures were taken on November 30. The kids got up Sunday morn and realized it snowed. So they put on their snow clothes and we played in the snow before going to church. I had on my pjs and Ed's waders and my coat! Bet I looked hysterical....and nope....no pics of that!

When Noah got his pajamas on he came into my scrappin' room (imagine that's where I was...LOL!) and said, "I want to learn to tuck myself in." Oh, my little heart broke. So I hugged him and kissed him in his doorway and he went in his room alone. He's growing up......

Fortunately, Chloe was there and said, "Mommy, I want you to tuck me in." Away she dashed and jumped in her bed! So I loved on her and tucked her in.....

Snow Day!

We had a day off from school today because of the snow. We got just a few inches but it was definitely enough for some sledding fun! Chloe and I went outside and played and then Noah realized he was missing out...so he geared up to join the fun.

After sledding, I came in and spent the afternoon in my craft room. I have created 2 layouts so far. Here is one....not my favorite but it's done!

Holy cow! My last post was in November!!! Guess that shows ya how busy December is. (That and we were all sick for a week of Christmas vacation when I hoped to get something done.) From trash to treasure...My ribbon organization project!

First I took some packaging that some blinds had come in. I cut the packaging apart on the edges so that I had really long pieces of clear plastic. Then I put the plastic on my Cricut mat, used my file that I created, and cut out these...

So I spent the afternoon sorting my ribbon. Of course, being OCD, I had to put it in ROYGBIV order (red, orange, yellow, etc.). All the cool colors are on the left and the warm colors on the right. This took all afternoon. I think I finally have a solution for my ribbon...I can see it all, it's portable, and it looks pretty hanging there.

Ok, so I haven't posted anything in a long time!! But I have been busy (who isn't?)! So I finished this page tonight. I started it last week. This is a picture of Chloe on her actual birthday. She was in her jammies and heading to bed. Some friends had come over to play pool so she was acting silly for them. This is a page I created for the first Cricut Color challenge. We were challenged to create something using white, pink, and light green. This is Chloe at the zoo in August. This page is totally scraplifted from the package of stamps I just bought and used on this page.

What a Trip!

This is a layout I made tonight of a trip I took with my brother. It was a nightmare of a trip but we sure had fun! I didn't have my camera but I wanted this story to be preserved for all to enjoy. I used my new Cricut Street Sign Cartridge to make the title and the cut outs of the signs! I love that cartridge! Take a minute to read the journaling:

Sunday, August 3, 2008-- Tim came to me and wanted to know if I would go to Atlanta with him on Monday. I thought, hmmm, I wonder if there are any good scrapbooking stores on the way....so I agreed to go.
Monday, August 4, 2008--Tim called and said we would leave tomorrow and wanted me to buy food for our trip.
Tuesday, August 5, 2008--I left my kids with Luke, grabbed the food, a cooler, a thermos of ice tea, and my overnight bag and hopped into Tim’s truck. He had a trailer hooked up to the truck with some huge woodworking machine on it. We hit the road at 1:00 pm. As we drove through some mountains in Tennessee it began to get dark. All of the sudden, his truck made a CLUNK, CLUNK! Tim says, "Oh, no! Oh, no!" We were careening down a hill and he is saying that! I looked at him as he was messing with the shifter thingy on the floor that makes the truck shift from 4 wheel drive to 2 wheel drive. He didn’t say anymore as we kept flying down the mountain. "What?" I asked. No response. "What? Are we gonna die!?!" That got a response. He laughed and said, "No, we’re not gonna die. Something’s wrong with the transfer case." ...like I know what that is! He explains that it’s the thing that allows the truck to shift into 4 wheel drive. He doesn’t know what’s causing the clunking. He calls Dad and they think we can make it to Georgia and back. Every 45 minutes or so, it would CLUNK, CLUNK, and Tim would have to "put it back in gear." As we got closer to Georgia, the clunking became a little more frequent. At midnight, we stopped at a Super 8 and slept for the night.
Wednesday, August 6, 2008--We got up at 7 a.m. and headed for the woodworking shop that bought the CNC router. We spent all morning there as they unloaded the machine. We got back on the road and headed south to Kennesaw, GA where Tim dropped me off at the Joann Superstore so I could scrapbook shop while he picked up the skid loader he bought. I found all kinds of bargains and loaded my cart. I waited and waited. Finally, he called and said he was there. I jumped in with all my new purchases. I made some sandwiches as we headed home. The clunking was becoming even more frequent. Tim kept insisting that we could still make it home. As we approached Nashville, the clunking began to occur every 2 or 3 minutes! Tim would try to get it back in gear but there was just a terrible grinding. We were in rush hour traffic in Nashville when Tim says, "We’re done!" We exit and limp into a truck stop. Tim calls Eddie and tells him to be ready to come get us. We sat in the truck stop parking lot and Tim decides that he can make it. So we get out of the lot and head up the entrance ramp to the interstate and Tim couldn’t get it in 4 wheel high. We stopped on the entrance ramp. He got out and we sat on the side of the road for a while. He tried to call Eddie again to come get us but he wouldn’t answer. We called Mom to come get us. She didn’t want to come alone so she decided to bring Luke, who was watching my kids. Tim told her to wait, he’d try again. Persistant guy! So we hop in the truck. After much grinding, Tim realized that we had lost the high side of the gears and only had 4 wheel low. This meant we couldn’t go any faster than 25 mph! We needed to get across 4 lanes of traffic to a left lane exit for I-24. Needless to say, we didn’t make it. We kept heading north on I-65. I grabbed an atlas to see if we could find a way that wasn’t interstate. We exited and started limping slowly home. Tim decided we couldn’t make it at that rate so he pulled into Advance Auto Parts. He told them our problem and they started calling around looking for a junkyard that might have a transfer case. At 6:58 p.m., right before closing time, they reached a place that would rebuild the transfer case the next morning. They just wanted us to take the transfer case out and bring it to them. Taking it out was possible but how could we bring it to them? Tim bought some tools to take out the transfer case, stopped and bought peaches from a man on the side of the road, and we limped the few miles back to a hotel that was 2 miles from the transmission shop. I sat in the Super 8 parking lot and ate peaches while Tim took the transfer case out of the truck. Now we were disabled and wouldn’t be able to drive anywhere. We went to our hotel room and Tim showered. Unfortunately, we had only packed enough clothes for one night. So Tim washed one set of clothes in the sink and we hung them over the air conditioner in hopes that they would dry. I fell asleep thinking that I should be home by now...
Thursday, August 7, 2008--We woke up early and ate. We had the hotel clerk call us a taxi to take us and our transfer case to the transmission shop. We arrived at 8 a.m. and they said they could order the parts and we’d be on our way that afternoon. Yes! We weren’t sure what to do with our day, so the taxi driver suggested we spend the day at the Opry Mills Mall. He drove us there and it cost $40 for his fare. We walked in the Opry Mills Hotel (the mall wasn’t open yet) and stood there and thought, how are we going to waste a day? I turned around and saw a Hertz rental place in the hotel. It turned out we could rent a car for $10 more than the cab fare to get us back! Equipped with a little Hyundai, we felt free. We drove to the mall and Tim went in a tool shop. I wandered around the mall. We met back up and decided to watch a movie to waste time. Our movie wouldn’t start for a while so we went to The Rainforest Cafe for lunch. The food was overpriced and undertasty. I went to Old Navy and bought a jacket and then we went and watched Swing Vote. After the movie, the transmission shop called...bad news, one part that they had been sent was wrong and it wouldn’t be there until morning!! We called our preacher, who used to work in Nashville and got a recommendation for a restaurant downtown. We drove downtown and ate at the Tin Angel. After our meal, we went back to the mall and I bought some clean clothes since we’d have to spend ANOTHER night in the hotel.
Friday, August 8, 2008-- We got up and went to the transmission shop at 8. The part had arrived and they were putting it together. When it was finished, we put the transfer case in the rental and rushed back to the hotel. Tim started putting it in while I raced back to return the car within our 24 hour time frame. I sat at the Opry Mills Hotel for an hour while he fixed the truck, showered, and packed our stuff. He picked me up and I realized he forgot my pillow. We went back to the hotel and got my pillow. "On the road again..." we sang. We drove towards home without any clunking! We got into Illinois and Tim realized he needed fuel. We passed a Love’s truck stop; bad experience there on the way down. I picked up the atlas and started asking him state trivia. He got distracted and passed the next exit. Uh, oh! He pressed the accelerator up and down. We were out of fuel! I ran to a house next to the interstate in hopes of some diesel fuel. No luck, but he gave us a hose to siphon some fuel from the skid loader on the back of the trailer. No luck, so we started walking. After a few minutes a man picked us up and drove us 13 miles to a gas station. We bought their last 2 gas cans and filled them. I asked the station attendant if there was a taxi here as I didn’t enjoy hitchhiking. A man at the counter offered to give us a ride since it was on his way home. Sweet! We got back to the truck and got it started. "On the road again.." we sang. As the St. Louis skyline appeared, thump, thump! "We had a blowout!" Tim said. Could this trip get any worse? He pulls over and hops in the back of the truck to grab a little jack. I questioned the ability of that jack to lift the thousands of pounds sitting on the trailer. I suggested that he drive the skid loader off the trailer and then the jack would work. Better idea, use the bucket of the skid loader as a jack! He changed it and we were "on the road again..." But wouldn’t you know that a traffic jam in O’Fallon made it take even longer to get home. Our overnight trip turned into a week long adventure. "Never again," I told Tim. His reply, "You’ll come again because you’ll be afraid you might miss something." We laughed because it’s true!
